SWIFTNet Phase 2 migrations going well at SMA
Press Release May 2007
With the first SWIFTNet Phase 2 deadline fast approaching in the UK, time is already running out for SWIFT users to upgrade their software and hardware infrastructure. At SMA, SWIFT’s leading UK Service Partner, the last few months have been challenging and busy but still enjoyable.
With over 100 SWIFTAlliance installations to look after, SMA staff all knew that this would be a busy time, and have already migrated some 62 BICs to the new environment. Commenting on the successful migrations, Aydin Erol, SWIFT Head of Service Partner Management said, "SMA has again proved the depth and breadth of their SWIFT expertise. To have migrated over 60 users across the UK and Ireland in the time they did, is a big plus for the local SWIFT community".
One of the biggest migrations faced by SMA was that of its own service bureau. With over 50 customers, and ever increasing traffic volumes, SMA needed to make sure that its bureau migration went as smoothly as possible. With SMA’s usual focused planning this work was successfully completed last weekend, with no loss of operational service to SMA's clients. Robert Rule, SMA's Service bureau manager, was very happy with the switchover. "Since joining SMA, we have seen the bureau go from strength to strength. Our SWIFT focus here at SMA meant that our preparations were second to none, ensuring a pain free transition. There's no doubt that the shared infrastructure model works for most clients; something we've just proved that with this migration."
Although SMA staff may be hoping for a more relaxing summer, all the new SWIFT initiatives, such as increased Corporates access and SWIFTNet Funds players coming onto SWIFT, the summer will probably turn out to be just as busy.
The first UK Phase 2 C1 (Customer Infrastructure upgrade) date is 31 May 2007, for single BIC environments. Other (non-handheld) customers in the UK have a C1 date of 31 July 2007. |
